I am an Immigrant to the US. I landed in New Jersey 8 years ago. I have been in NJ for almost all of that time. I went to a University there for my masters. I worked in NJ itself for 3.5 years, then I started working in New york while still living in NJ.
In this time I have visited a lot of places in the US like Maine, New Hampshire etc. Cities like San Fransisco, Seattle, Boston etc. albeit only as a tourist for a few days.
The only city that I can distinguish from the rest of American cities is New York. There is a crap ton of museums, a crap ton of old buildings. I think I might have spent atleast 60 days in Met Museum in all the time I have been in NJ. I don't even need a map to navigate my way around that museum lol. People are unique. The subway system makes it unique. That city was really fun. I miss it a lot. That city seems to create interesting things out of nothing. Like Manhattan solstice where the sun sets perfectly between the streets. Every single I take a stroll on the streets of the city, I could find someone playing music randomly on the street. Every time I was feeling bored, I would just spend 5.5 dollars on the path train and go into the city and I used to find soooo much entertainment for 3 to 4 hours at least.
Rest of the cities like Austin, Seattle etc. I cannot really distinguish it from each other. The one really cool thing I found in Austin is the Barton creek pool. But other than that, I don't really find anything particularly unique about Austin. I have been here for the last 5 months I think. I don't have any friends here and I feeling very bored and lonely :(
Also, I don't drink and I am a vegetarian, so bars, restaurants, Taco food trucks doesn't help me that much. But on that note though, I miss falafel over rice.
