Yes, this is pathetic, I am aware. But this is what happens when you don't maintain friendships like you should, work remotely, move to the suburbs, turn 40, and have a kid. The pandemic, of course, finished off most of my remaining friendships.
So I'm looking for a drinking buddy for the evening because I've absolutely got to get out of the house for my mental health, and human interaction would be amazing since the heat takes most of my preferred solo activities off the table. Topics of conversation on which I can conversate relatively intelligently include: geography, history, politics, linguistics, religion, and philosophy.
The cheaper the drinks and the farther east the venue the better, though I'm flexible. To be clear, I'm not buying, and I'll be paying my own tab. No ulterior motives beyond just some light, intelligent conversation. Thanks, y'all.
Edit: Looks like it's going down at the Water Tank on McNeil if any other nerds care to join and make it an impromptu meetup. I'll be headed that way shortly.
Update: We've disbanded but I believe that the consensus was that we'll do this again. Stay tuned! And my thanks to everyone who commented encouragement for reaching out for company. I'm definitely glad I did.
