How is 6th Street these days?

20-30 years ago I used to love visiting 6th Street, going bar hopping, seeing all the great live music.

But it has been a long time since I've been down there. I'm thinking of heading back to Austin when the weather cools off to visit some friends and was contemplating going down to 6th Street.

Is it still worth visiting? I've heard some stories that it is no longer safe, high crime, no more good music.. fun stuff like that.
