The Electoral Commission has approved the application of registration from Joseph's Labor Alliance.
Statement of reasons
Having assessed the proposed name, shortname, abbreviation and logo in the application, the Electoral Commission believes it to satisfy all rules. The manifesto is not deemed significantly offensive or satirical, and the constitution fulfils all requirements. The Electoral Commission successfully assessed that 5 of the members provided in the application were members of the party.
Submissions
A variety of submissions were made all essentially concerning the policy of the party, and it being too similar to other parties that currently exist. While the Elections Meta Act 2021 does allow for applications to be rejected for "any other valid reason determined by the AEC", we do not view similarity to other parties to be a valid reason in this case, and as such we do not believe there is any concern as it pertains to Joseph's Labor Alliance.
