Preparing for the event, model-putrid's campaign team put up posters advertising her visit on social media, and put up a few posters on High Street.
After finishing her soy milk caramel latte with exactly two spoons of sugar — and yes, it's important this be specified— and having a bit of a chat with the dozen people who came to the event, model-putrid begins to speak.
"Thank you for coming to this event today. Today, I'd like to speak about healthcare. Especially out here in regional Victoria, it's a matter that can often be neglected. Here, the Marysborough Hospital was something that both major parties at the state election pledged to support. Yet, 3 years later, and now that we're in a pandemic, for God's sakes, we've seen nothing, because our politicians like to talk and not act. I'm sick of it, and it's why I'm running for office.
At both a state and federal level, we've seen consecutive government dither and delay on this key issue for the Marysborough community. It's unacceptable. We deserve better from our politicians, and that's what I'm promising to you. Community based government, straight to the people. Enough of the damn ideology and the culture war. We need to elect an MP who will deliver for our communities.
So, here's my promise to you. If I'm elected as your MP, I am going to push for a federal government injection of spending into the Marysborough Hospital of $100 million, to deliver the once in a generation world class upgrades that the Marysborough community was promised.
The coronavirus pandemic has laid bare some of the necessary lies of society. We were lucky that Melbourne bore the brunt of this epidemic in the state, as regional Victorian health experts have been telling us for ages that they aren't prepared, and that they need more funding and support from the government. We should use this as a warning, and give our regional hospitals the support that they need. That's what I will fight for as your local member."
