Good afternoon! for my final speech for this campaign I will talk about the ALPs plans for the Economy, Industrial Relations, Innovation and Youth. Because the ALP believes in what we have put into place in our manifesto, Our programme that we have laid out and wrote does not promise vague notions of Prosperity or vague policies about Job creation, infrastructure funding or Healthcare services, nay, our programme is clear, to the point and ambitious.
So let me speak about more of our manifesto, firstly the plans we have for the Economy as a whole. The ALP will introduce a Super profits tax, we will increase the capital gains tax and introduce a progressive corporate tax, these will fine tune Government revenue collection while not putting a burden on the average Australian, instead making the top end of town paying their fair share and not hoarding their wealth for them to never use. To continue on about taxation reform, the ALP will remove any subsidy or tax credit for Trucks and instead, introduce a Distance based tax so that Trucks can offset their much higher damage to roads and to also offset their higher emissions. The ALP will also encourage the growth and creation of Worker Democracy and Worker Cooperatives, to do this, we will establish Tax incentives and grants to foster the growing power of the Australian Working Class and allow them to be able to have control of their Work place. That's right ladies and gentlemen, the Australian Labour Party will support the growing power of the working class, we will put our money where our mouth is and give the Aussie Workers and Battlers of this country a proper go in this country. The ALP will establish guidelines for the encouraging of Worker Democracy and input in state owned organisations and public sector workplaces. On top of all this, an ALP Government will go through a series of Nationalisations to better strengthen our economy and to provide stability as well, such as with our resources sector, not only will it strengthen our bargaining power in international trade but we will also establish a Future Fund of which the profits of a nationalised resources sector will go towards.
For Industrial Relations reforms, beyond just Worker Democracy, the ALP will also introduce legislation and reforms to create a similar system as the Danish/German style board reforms and shift corporate responsibility away from shareholders and to the community. On top of this, we will also make amendments to the Fair Work Act to introduce reforms including the Right to Disconnect and the introduction of the Four Day Work Week! You heard me right folks, the Australian Labour Party will give YOU an extra day of rest, relaxation, time with family or to catch up with mates at the pub. Because we believe life is more then just slaving away at work to make sure ends meet, we believe people deserve to take time our of their life to pursue personal journeys and goals, and no one of low income needs to worry about losing an extra day at work, when we do this reform we will make sure the proper measures and reforms are made to make sure your wage and benefits match the four day work week so you can feel more comfortable and less financially stressed then you currently are.
Thirdly, I would like to talk about Innovation, because Australia needs to maintain it's technological edge and be more then just an economy of resource extraction, we need to be able to not only mine and extract the great wealth under our soil. Australia needs to be able to harness and utilise the magnificent wealth of our country to improve the lives of every Australian. And in order to achieve this technological edge, the Australian Labour Party will greatly increase the funding for the CSIRO in order to enhance the institution and it's innovative nature as the leading scientific institution in Australia. We will also expand Screen Australia's mandate so it can also support the development of software and in order to facilitate this expansion, we will also increase Screen Australia's funding. The ALP will establish Special Economic Zones which will be designed to create an environment conductive for the manufacturing of prototypes and thus, be able to foster the creation of software start ups, on top of this, the ALP will deliver tax incentives for starts and establish a new Government Incubator. Now lastly, the ALP also has plans for Nuclear Research, should we get into government, we will begin the creation of a Nuclear Research Plan that will outline our policies to further our Nuclear Research and to help foster this, we will join the ITER to connect our domestic research with our International partners.
And lastly, I would like to talk about the ALPs policies regarding Youth policy beyond Education. To start off, the ALP will establish a separate Youth Ministerial Portfolio in order to develop more targeted policies and have more attention and resources provided for Australian Youth, allowing a more fulfilling and comprehensive policy developed and delivered. To continue this, we will increase Centrelink's Youth Allowance to ease cost of living for Young Adults, we will develop a National Youth Strategy to help implement synchronised and consistent policy for all Australian Youths. We also recognise that Australian law and justice regarding our Youths is woefully inadequate and must be updated to be fit for purpose for modern Australia and thus, our reforms for the Youth Justice Sector and related policies will be to create a National Child Protection Information Sharing protocol, what this will do in essence is create a system of information sharing on information for on Family Violence and Child Abuse can be assessed securely across jurisdictions without the need for coordination from different entities. We will reform the Custody formula within the Family Law Act, so that children are less likely to be forced to maintain contact with abusive parents. We will empower School Counsellors to write referrals for a Mental health Action Plan, we will criminalise the Corporal Punishment of Children and Young People, on top of all this, we will lower the voting age to 16 Years old.
These are the policies the Australian Labour Party has put forward to this election and we believe that such policies will lead for a better Australia, because we are a Party of the Worker's and the Party for a Better Future. I humbly ask for everyone to vote 1 for Labour. Let's build a better Society folks! Thanks for being here and have a good day!
