Why would an agent reduce their commission?
Post Body

Iā€™m interested in a property but have reached my maximum price and bailed. The agent then agreed with the sellers to reduce the agent commission as well as buyers price. It is now still slightly above my limit but close.

Question is why would they offer to do that? Is it even a thing? If they are that desperate should I just keep my price anyway?

Thanks!

Comments

Beware there may be something wrong with the property. Have you had an in-depth builder's report done? Not surface level.buidling and pest. But a structural report for example? Is the house on a flood map etc. The agent shouldn't be worried about the house selling for what they're asking unless there's a reason why it shouldn't.
