QLD rental advice with gardens needed please
Post Body

Renting house in QLD, have been in this property for roughly 2 years.

We recently resigned another lease and noticed special condition clauses regarding maintenance of the gardens.

This property has many large palms and one big other tree. We had been dealing with the general fallen fronds and other branches, some falling on our cars, until we were swimming in the pool and one of the palm fronds fell almost hitting our 5 year old son. Why idiots put palms around pools I just canโ€™t comprehend ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ We then spoke with the property manager expressing our concerns regarding safety and property damage, to which they got tree loppers out to make quotes, this was roughly 9 months ago.

Since then I have taken a chainsaw to trim back what I could (canโ€™t really just cut down palm trees) to manage the situation as best as possible, however in the new lease agreement special conditions clauses they have noted about not making changes to the gardens without seeking permission first.

Have checked the RTA website regarding garden maintenance and it is very vague where we stand.

Additional to this issue being a safety concern and risking property damage to our vehicles, there is extra costs associated with chemicals in the pool due to all the extra leaves and plant due to the close proximity to the pool.

So am I within my rights to trim back the trees and palms or do I just sit on my hands waiting for the realestate to act or have something worse happen?
