Termites?
Post Body

Hi everyone, was after some advice on a property I’ve put a holding deposit on.

I had the pest and building inspector come out today and they saw a couple of termite baits (for treatment, not prevention) set up on the side of the house.

The house is about 70 years old, brick veneer. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.

I am apprehensive about purchasing the property now, due to not knowing the extent of the damage internally. The inspector was not able to get full access to the subfloor as it is very tight, but did not see anything in the roof to indicate damage except for a replaced beam (unsure if this was termite related). He also saw the skirting board of a bedroom that looked a bit rotted, but this backs onto the bathroom so could be a waterproofing issue.

I planned on renovating the property anyway, but now am unsure if I should purchase it at all.

Property is in NSW.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't be too concerned with termite baits it's a barrier protection so that termite don't get to your property. I have them myself. I'd be more concerned if there's any evidence of termite damage within the house especially live termites
