Hello all. Predicament time.

Some facts : Ive been in a relationship for 2 years. Iā€™ve ended it this week. We live together and she has two kids from a previous marriage, who live with us 50/50 (dadā€™s still in the picture).

I bought a house in July 22. My 100k deposit, my sole name on the property / mortgage. Herself and the two kids moved in with me in July 22.

For the first 6 months or more, she didnā€™t contribute to bills / maintenance / mortgage as she wasnā€™t working. Since then she has paid into a joint account, about 25% of the mortgage amount to cover ā€œrentā€ and bills. I actually pay most of the bills directly. She also now pays for more than half of the groceries.

Today, as shit hit the fan more: sheā€™s told me sheā€™s speaking to a lawyer to ascertain what it should look like moving forward (sheā€™s likely to have to stay in the house for the time being due to financial constraints she has and lack of rentals available). She mentioned I have financial responsibilities toward the kids. She also presumed I had just sold one of my cars and asked fairly aggressively was that the case.

Now, I donā€™t think sheā€™ll want to come for the house or half of it but I donā€™t know or get what my responsibilities are towards the kids in the time frame sheā€™s in the house full / theyā€™re in the house half the time.

What are the legal implications and expectations regarding her kids, and what am I responsible for going forward for her and the kids
