I am a tenant in NSW and the property I am living in will go to settlement shortly. The prospective buyer is an investor and I am currently in a fixed term rental agreement that ends in a few months. My real estate has reached out to me to arrange a pre-settlement inspection for the prospective buyer, which is fine. However, they have specifically requested that I am not present for the inspection.
I really do not feel comfortable with this, especially since I have pets that I am worried may escape when strangers come into my home without me present. The real estate agent was not at all helpful in ensuring that people closed the doors after them during the open inspections a few months ago, despite expressing my concerns.
I am in the process of doing some research on my rights and rereading my rental agreement, but the real estate is pressuring me for a response. I am unsure if my concerns have any legal basis and do not want to unreasonably decline their request if it is legal.
