Hello!
I'm currently undergoing an application with a company who is, simply, screwing me around. Every phone call I have, I receive a different answer that conflicts with the last. We will leave that there as context.
To better assist me with keeping track of the confusion and lack of organisation on the company's behalf, I have been recording my phone conversations with them. It is not my intention to publish these recordings, only to keep them for record purposes and transcribing.
The business notifies me that their line is also recorded by an automated message prior to any conversations with humans.
My questions are: - Are there any potential legal consequences with recording these conversations on my end without seeking verbal consent from the other party? (intention of mine regardless) - If a large issue were to come up regarding my application, can my recordings be used to file a complaint within the company's hierarchy? - If they are recording, does that circumvent the requirement of me telling them the line is recorded? - My phone says very loudly that the call is recorded, however I initiate the recording prior to reaching a human. The company does this prior to their human getting on the line as well. Am I in the wrong or legally right? - Is there anything else I should know?
I understand it is explicitly unethical and illegal to record phone conversations with the intention of publishing them without prior consent.
Thank you in advance!
