Heys guys quick story/question. Been an apprentice for about a month now enjoying it so far. Today i was asked to run cable in the roof as we were doing a whole rewire on a house. Fixed off the J boxes after i was told to do so. Went to test for dead the cable coming out of the switch board it wasn’t, went to the switch board turned her off, tested for dead on the breaker confirming the breaker was functioning, went up to the j box tested the wires from the switchboard they were dead all is good, power went out on all lights from this circuit confirming there was no power coming through ontop of the test from the multimeter. I wired the 3 sets of tps into the box went to wire the 4th that being the tps coming from the board. I grabbed the active to move her out the way then the neutral at the same time with the other hand and that’s when i received a shock. Didn’t hurt just got all tense for a brief second, was quiet surprised i was told this was due to the current being so low which makes sense the power is off but i am still trying to figure out when i received a shock when i know for a fact the power for the circuit i was working on was out. Di i just get lucky, was it somehow a residual charge or is there any thing to consider for the future that i have missed/ was informed about. The tps is new and so was the breakers as they were collected from the wholesaler on the morning prior. I guess my real question is, is this a fairly common occurrence or could have it been much worse (haven’t started tafe been doing this job for around 4 weeks), any advice is good advice cheers.
