Murphy Creek Toxicity
Post Body

So, we moved out here last year and it's kind of alarming what I see being possibly hazardous (almost for sure). Being that the neighborhood is like, under 2 miles away from DADS landfill, Halliburton having fracked not far East, and the smell that permeates the air lately...I'm kind of regretting this choice of residency.

The first worry I had was seeing the fracking late last year in multiple spots just East of our collective neighborhoods. Then I read up on the history of the Lowry landfill, or whatever you want to call it now. But I found very little info, anywhere, related to any concerns about ground water contamination or complaints of fumes coming from the dump.

Now I know, everyone made a choice in coming out here, whether it was to get out of the city, pricing was better, the country-ish feel, but it comes at the expense of feeling a little unsettled by even the thought of years of waste seeping right up under you.

Idk, just putting thoughts out, but I'd be curious to know if anyone else had any testing info or was as uneasy as I am about the possibilities is all. You've got new houses being built even closer to the landfill and that seems wild to me. I guess if Highlands Ranch can have a park that is built right over an old landfill, Aurora is fair game?

Last summer I was living at BB Living at Murphy Creek and I got a letter on my door from some attorney claiming that one of the local news channels was doing an investigation on that specific community. They claimed that the water contains some toxic metal in it, (and that everyone who should be aware of this was and is and wasn’t giving a fuck ) and it’s not even safe to brush your teeth with, calling the community “auroras most expensive SLUM ever” I never followed up as I moved out early and was breaking my lease for other reasons. Sounds like some Erin Brockovich shit is happening … 🤷🏽‍♀️
