So this is a bit of an experiment. To my knowledge, there aren't any brother roleplay audios here and I'm not sure if this will really work for people or not, but I figured it might be nice to dip my toe in the water and see whether people like it. Obviously if you're not Australian it might be a bit jarring to hear someone with an Australian accent roleplaying as your older brother, so I made a version with the brotherly references cut out, maybe I'm just a friend or roommate or someone else. It's hopefully soothing, relaxing, entertaining and good for giving you some company if you're feeling a little lonely or bored.
You can listen to the big brother version here and you can listen to the non-sibling version here.
In this audio, you're bored and complaining a little about that, so I tell you to come hang out with me. I'm preparing for my weekly game of Dungeons and Dragons so I ramble on about the adventure I'm planning to run for my players. For those of you who are unfamiliar with D&D, it's a medieval fantasy roleplaying game where people pretend to be characters who go on adventures, slay monsters, find treasure and do all sorts of other fun things. One person is the Dungeon Master, the person who narrates the story and describes things that the players encounter and experience, as well as playing all of the other characters that the players meet. Most games are heavily improvised around a loose plot structure, as players have the freedom and agency to do pretty much whatever they want (though there are plenty of handy tricks for dungeon master to subtly 'shepherd' players in a desired direction). It's like part videogame, part improv show, part radio play, a collaborative improvised story where everyone plays one of the main characters except for the dungeon master, who is part director and part character actor, playing all of the 'extras' and villains and such.
Anyway, I'm a dungeon master and I describe to you the adventure that I have in mind for my players, telling you of a troubled town with a dire problem, monsters and magic, prophecy and mythology. I also read a little poem that I wrote for the game. We finish up by me suggesting we watch some TV, and since I rambled on so much, you get to decide what we watch.
My tone is friendly and passionate, I'm obviously a huge nerd and it's implied that you're not as into D&D as I am, but are willing to listen. The way I speak to you hints at a rapport between us but doesn't specifically mention anything about our relationship (other than that I'm your brother and it's been a while since we hung out, in the brother version). I don't refer to you by any name or term, so it's absolutely open to anyone to listen to.
I hope you enjoy this audio. I haven't done anything like this before, so I'd love to know what you thought! If you'd like to hear more of my audios, you can find them organised on my subreddit /r/msa_andeh.
