Does APD affect speech?

I've always struggled to talk on the phone or even in person unless I really know the person. I often have a problem understanding strangers when they talk to me. But I also have a hard time knowing what to say when I talk to strangers/acquaintances. I'm pretty sure I have APD, but I was curious if it could also affect my ability to speak extemporaneously - or if that's just social anxiety.
