Just general advice for alloy wheels in winter

So since bad weather is officially hitting, the snow the ice, the wet weather, the salt from grit etc gets into your alloy wheels obviously.
How often should I clean my alloy wheels so they don’t get ruined? And should I just give them a proper clean the way I usually do or is there something in particular I should be using on my alloys during this weather. First car so I’m just trying to keep it fresh and not get ruined
