Checking oil level on a 2011 Audi A4 2.0tdi

Post Body

So basically recently bought a 2011 Audi A4 2.0 tdi. Already had to change the top arms which was some complete nightmare as pinch bolts snapped.

Did a full service while we was at it. So obviously after changing the oil we had to check the level. Surprise surprise, no dipstick anywhere. That's ok, we'll just check it on the on board computer. Oh no, apparently no information aveilable on the oil. Googled it and found out I've got to drive the car for around 20 mins just to check the oil level? So now I've got to risk pretty much the whole engine just to check the oil level. Awesome, whoever thought of this must've been the biggest dip s**t on the planet. Was it really that expensive to at least add a hole for a dipstick?

Anyways, after driving for 20 mins the oil level said ok. Thought I'd check again a few days later which then said please drain off oil, just not how much oil.. which I thought at least this dumb sensor would be able to sense at least, otherwise what's even the point in replacing the dipstick with it. So anyway, went and drained off about a litre. So after switching the car back on and going on the stupid option to check oil level, it again presented me with the no oil info aveilable message which means once again I'll have to drive 30 mins with god knows how much oil in my engine. How backwards can it get just to check the oil level on a car. So after all that and driving the car for 20 mins, once again oil level went to ok.

About a few days ago, noticed the engine sounded a it didn't have enough oil in it from cold. Went to check the oil level, please drain off oil. Does it want me to just dump every drop of oil and redline it for 30 mins, will that maybe help? Absolute pos car.

So now I'm left wondering how much oil there even is in the car. Is the sensor faulty? Will I have to waste £70 just to find out if it's either a faulty sensor or is it just what these stupid cars are like as apparently it could also be dumping diesel into engine oil cos it doesn't want to dpf regen. How am I supposed to even diagnose wtf is actually going on.
