2020 Q3- how often do y’all change oil?

Had an oil change in December and now it’s telling me to get one in thirty days.
The shop I go to says the dealership only does it once a year but shop says “as the engine ages it starts to burn oil so we shorten the distance and time to avoid engine oil going low”
Anyone else have this experience or are they playing me?
