Autism in women is only somewhat socially acceptable if you’re attractive.

Everytime I go on Instagram, I see these AuDHD influencers that are conventionally attractive, and everyone in the comments is hyping them up. Also, they tend to harp on the “quirky and cute” autism shit. It drives me crazy. I’ve never seen an AuDHD “influencer” that didn’t look like an OF model that got any sort of non-negative feedback. They always have “the right kind” of autism. This is just sort of a rant. I just had to get it out.

edit: i’m not saying this to put them down, but as someone who is not conventionally attractive, and is treated very poorly because of my autism, it just bothers me that there’s such a double standard.

The more I learn about myself, the more upset I get with that trope.

I always wanted to be her, guys would tell me I‘d remind them of MPDGs.

Of course I wanted to be her, she‘s me without the most debilitating symptoms. Of course guys thought I‘m her, I hide the most debilitating symptoms.

No matter how attracted people (think they) are to you, the loneliness is immense.
