I just got an APi as Christmas gift to myself and decided to use some off the shelf PSU I found around home. The APi came with baby breaker board. With a 5V 2A 2.5mm adapter the board would not even turn on. I do not know if the baby breaker is defective. Does any of the LEDs light up when it is connected to a power supply?
With a 5V 3.6A, I spliced the wire and run the leads as you do with dupont connectors. The board now works fine but only under non graphical mode. With lubuntu/or debian XFCE, the board is very unstable and crashes almost immediately as I start a browser.
I checked both PSU for voltage and it is consistently tad over 5V (like 5.136V). The power draw of the board always stayed below 7W (checked by Kill-A-Watt). That tells me, power requirement of the APi is somewhere below 2A.
I am pretty frustrated at this point and before returning this hardware, I am looking for your help. Have you encountered similar problems with APi?
