King Abdullah sends an invitation to the Prime Minister of Iraq and real power behind the Hashemite Monarchy in Iraq, Nuri al-Said. The general turned politician had been in power in Iraq since 1930 under the British Mandate, the man has been in and out of power during Iraq's tumultuous recent history. However, he's always remained pro-West to the point of risking his life. This came to a head during the Anglo-Iraqi War, where Nuri al-Said was removed from power and he was forced to flee to Jordan and stay in Abdullah's court until the British returned the old government into power and the pro-Nazi Iraqi coup members were removed from power. The two men had a history together, and Abdullah hoped to use that to his advantage.
