His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I arrived in Paris, quite the picture of good health. He was quite fond of the city, that European city which he wished to emulate in his vision for a new Addis Ababa. But primarily, he had to discuss a number of issues with the French leadership.

• His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I would like to cordially invite the French ambassador and French colonial leadership to dine with him at his palace in Addis Ababa at their earliest convenience. This meeting would precipitate the opening of a French embassy in Addis Ababa, at a central location on Yohannis St. We hope to foster amicable relations with the French, especially concerning French colonial policy.
• Relating to this, His Majesty Haile Selassie I would like to propose a railway linking Addis Ababa to Djibouti in French Somaliland. This railway would help connect Ethiopia to the European world, as well as open up new markets in Addis Ababa to French products.
• His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I wishes to inquire as to whether the French would be willing to support him diplomatically, and encourage the British to terminate their occupation of the Ogaden and to transfer administration of Eritrea to the Imperial Government, per the Treaty of Paris.
• His Imperial Majesty haile Selassie I would also like to further ask French support concerning the matter of the Aksum Obelisk, which was pilfered from the ancient city of Aksum by the Italians and currently resides in Rome. We plan to ask the international community to facilitate the return of the Obelisk to Aksum.
• His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I wishes to invite French language teachers to Ethiopian universities.

We are also willing to discuss anything that the French wish to discuss.
