I'm gonna admit, a lot of the jokes went over my head last episode but one thing that resonated with me this episode and all season is just how relatable Glover's character is, the entire slimy club manager bit got me right in the feels because deep down, Earn doesn't wanna be a pushover but because one doesn't have a forceful personality, you just go through life with people not being sacred of and taking advantage of you (another example is his radio show white friend not being scared of saying nigga around him). Thematically speaking, this season for Earn has been all about maturity and facing reality, I have no clue why he dropped out of Uni but you can definitely see that before the start of the season he was this sheltered young man (can't do business hot?, never had any previous interactions with the police or jail) and now because he couldn't meet society's expectations he's trying to adapt to the real world, what with a shitty commission job, a complicated relationship, having to raise a child and being technically homeless (did you just come out of that dumpster?). All in all, it's a story about an underachiever( won't you let me in? I can't afford it, son) struggling to find out exactly what he wants in life but not willing to take the normal route ( I ain't going out like that, man) and I just wanna applaud Glover on bringing to the screen, exactly what being an underachiever feels like. Sorry for the wall of text.
EDIT: I hate shots!
