So I’m an absolute beginner (well sort of, I have been doing naked eye star gazing since like more than a year now, although there aren’t really many stars I can see due to air light pollution). I really want to get into astronomy and buy some sort of equipment as an upgrade.
Now being a high school student, I can’t really ask my parents to spend so much money on a 6” dob and I’ve read enough bad stuff about the affordable celestron 5” reflector EQ so I ruled out that option too, and finally my search settled on the 10x50 Porro binoculars which are quite cheap as well as highly recommend by everyone.
However I have a few things bothering about making that purchase which I’ll be glad if anyone could help me out with:
In pretty sure a pair of 10x50 won’t provide me with views of the rings of the Saturn or maybe stripes on the Jupiter, so what kind of cool stuff can I expect to see with a pair of 10x50? (Keeping in mind my sky usually fluctuates between bortle 7 and 8).
Will I be able to see any DSOs like clusters, globular clusters, Orion Nebula, double stars etc?
Anything which you’ll like to add or suggest
