A50's staying in standby mode

so my Astro A50 headset with base which i have had for a couple of years wont come out of standby mode i have tried a hard reset of the device and i have even tried resyncing the headset to the base but the battery lights only keep flashing in alternating pairs. i have even downloaded the command center and tried a firmware update but it failed can some one help me out please
