I had asthma as a kid. Grew out of it. Just had a long drawn out asthma attack that left me in the hospital 3 days.
I just got home and my dr was great. I have a pulse ox meter and I’m on oxygen for when I get below a certain number.
I’m 45. I’ve been an athlete my entire life. No smoking, drinking, or drugs. My go to vice is Mt. Dew. Three weeks ago I could play basketball for 2-3 hours straight
They diagnosed me with adult onset asthma.
Onto the issue.
I need to get back to work. Basketball can wait. I have 4 kids 3,10 and two 21. Two dogs and a household to support. I can’t work with oxygen but I can’t stay out long. I deal cards at the casino so I can’t have oxygen or my pulse ox meter on while working.
I’m off work until Friday as of right now it’s Monday morning 230am.
What can I do to speed this recovery along. Also when I can’t monitor myself with the pulse ox how do I gauge my oxygen level.
Using the pulse ox I notice my oxygen level isn’t always congruent with how I’m feeling breathing wise.
I also tend to push myself too hard and don’t want to be doing too much in this time.
Any help on how to recover faster How to gauge oxygen level without pulse ox How to know when it’s time to take a break. Should I be resting right now or does moving around build strength back in my lungs.
Thank you
