My grandparents are close to their savings running out. Is it possible to find assisted living facilities when all they have is medicare and social security? Are there resources for this sort of thing?
Post Body

X-post from /r/seniorcare

My aunt who had power of attorney has really fudged things up. She hasn't embezzled from them or anything like that (we don't think), but she has allowed them to vastly overspend while giving everyone else (including my grandparents) the impression that things were fine.

My grandfather has Parkinsons and needs to wear diapers and have his food cut up and fed to him and he can't talk anymore. My grandmother has had two strokes and is blind and deaf on the left side of her body. They need full time care, but apparently they're not going to be able to afford the facility they're in for much longer. We're not even sure how much longer, my mother and her brother are fighting my aunt to get access to the books, which she still won't share.

My mother just asked me how she would even find a facility willing to take someone with just medicare and social security and I didn't know what to do except turn to reddit. What resources are there for people in their situation? What can we do?
