This may belong better in some other Sub Reddit. However, the thread on paying for medication made me think about this and decide to share the information. If you are on Medicare and you have drugs that you take on a regular basis, This post is for you. Medicare drug and Medicare advantage plans that provide drug coverage all base your medication charges on certain tiers that all drugs are arranged in ( tiers 1 through 4 ). The drugs get more expensive as you go up the tier ladder. However, if there is a drug at a lower tier which treats your condition and your doctor can give a medical reason why you cannot take the drug that is at the lower tier, then the insurance plan must give you a tier reduction on request. This means you can get a tier 4 drug at a tier 1 cost. It may take several phone calls to find the right group to talk to for your request and it must be requested again at the beginning of each plan year. Yet, this little trick that no one tells you about can be extremely valuable. Hope this helps someone. This may belong better in some other Sub Reddit.
