OFFER IS NOW CLOSED. Thank you so much to everyone for your uplifting stories of kindness, hope, and positivity. It is lovely to be reminded of how astonishingly wonderful people can be.

To celebrate my stepmum surviving a heart attack last week, getting a stent, and doing awesome now, I am giving a $100 e-gift card to a grocery store of the winner's choosing (NOT Walmart, Target, Amazon, or a general merchandise store). This offer is for stores in the US only.

To enter:

  1. Tell us about the most touching gift you have received or the nicest thing that someone has done for you;
  2. Include a link to the grocery store's e-gift card order page; and
  3. Meet the sub's eligibility requirements.

This offer will stay open until some time tomorrow. You do not need to be in dire financial straits to enter. If a $100 e-gift card would make your life better/less stressful/tastier, feel free to enter. It is not a sad-off to see who can come up with the most pitiful tale of woe.

The most touching gift I received was a Thumbelina pop-up book. When I was a little kid, my pop-up book went missing during a move. Looked for it for years, but it was gone. Twenty years later, a friend and I were chatting about lost things we mourned as children. Lo and behold, a few weeks later, a package arrived with a vintage pop-up book that was identical to the one I lost. It is still one of my most cherished items.
