Hi, my name is Benjamin (22) and on the night of the 16th my dad passed away, he had multiple forms of cancer and some very strong reactions/side effects from that and from his chemo treatments. He has been in and out of the hospital for some time now. I'd like to keep the explanation of his condition brief if that is okay, but he was doing very poorly before he passed. I live an hour away, so we decided to see him to say goodbye the next morning, staff at the hospital had told my sister that would be okay. When we arrived the next morning, we were told we were not allowed to say goodbye and that we would have to go through the funeral home of our choice. We had not thought that far ahead yet, since it was only a few hours after his passing so we just had to go home.
We did some research and we aren't able to afford services so we are just doing a direct cremation, which is the cheapest service but they also charge for 30 minutes to say goodbye.
It is just me, my fiancee, and my sister who are trying to gather money for this. I am disabled without benefits so my fiancee and I are on just her income, my sister is disabled with benefits but is a single mother, and my mother lives paycheck to paycheck and is frankly leaving the financial responsibility on us.
My mother is the one who has set up the gofundme for everything, so here is the link for that GoFundMe - anything helps, the bare minimum we need is for his cremation and for 30 minutes to say goodbye, but I'm sure most know that there are other expenses that need to be paid like his bills and transferring his car over and he is also leaving behind his pets, so we want to make sure we have the finances to care for them as well. Anything at all helps.
If anyone has any further questions please let me know, I am nearing my text limit but I will share some more information - just about who my dad was in the comments.
