i've been at my current job for over 4 years now, and while i have title of hospitality manager, the truth is it's pretty much a feel good title. i have no benefits like the other certified managers, i make a quarter over new hires and yet i'm expected to come early and stay late as if i were actual manager. that wouldn't have been so bad had my general manager not decided to save money by severely understaffing on my shifts, knowing i would step up to fill the void. i've spent last year extremely frustrated by the low pay, horrid hours and feeling like i'm not valued as as an employee. i'm constantly told by customers and coworkers that i'd do better elsewhere but truth is that at least here i knew i had 26 hours at least every week. so i've stayed long past time point where many others have left.
until now, that is! while chatting with ex coworker who transferred to del taco across street, i learned that their general manager has been interested in hiring me since year before last! but because they don't need managers and thought i wouldn't want to come in as crew, they figured i wouldn't be interested, so never offered. but here's the thing... their starting pay is ALREADY $1 more hourly than i make as manager! and if i do overnights occasionally, that's another $1 hourly. so i went to talk to general manager who was very excited to have me apply. she's offered me as many hours as i'd like while working around my babysitting my grandson, has told me she hopes i'll stay and go into first team leader then shift manager training to advance in her store, AND pays more! so i finally sucked up my courage and decided to take the job. i turn in my 2 week notice sunday in order to give my current boss time to replace me as weekends are really bad there.
the thing is i need new work shoes as soon as i can get them because the ones i have now are falling apart. the insoles are history, the backs have lost their padding and rub blisters on my heels and the non slip tread is long gone. unfortunately i don't get the first bigger paycheck until beginning of next month! i will pay whomever can help me get them now back with that check, or pay it forward if they'd rather. of course, i picked the pair that is both cheap yet has 4 stars.
this isn't a dire need, and i know others are more desperate, so it's okay to scroll past this request. and full disclosure, one reason i can't afford right now is because i'm sending out 2 packages of formula to 2 different redditors this check who need them. so if anyone can help, that would be amazing, but if not....
that's okay too!
just keep helping each other as always!
