EDIT: Here is the fundraising site: https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/vfn2/tbcf
I decided to go with giveforward instead of gofundme because of the feedback I received from friends.
I recently started a small fundraiser to help her with various bills. Our first goal is her deductible for the year, $1,000. I currently have a secret facebook group set up, because, well, this whole thing is a secret. I want to reach our goal by the end of August.
There may be secondary goals if the first goal is reached. She may opt in for reconstructive surgery, and if she does, I would like to raise the goal to whatever she will have to pay if her insurance does not cover, or does not fully cover it.
I would love any help with fundraising ideas, your bids on auctions, or whatever you can offer. Do you know businesses that would be willing to donate small amounts of money? Please send me their email! I also have my own website that I will be trying to set up a small portion of it as a thank you for donating.
The group is private and on facebook. If you would like to join the group, please send me a message on Reddit, I will send you my facebook profile and add you to the group as I have time. I will be updating this post with updates, auctions we will be having, and as I get around to it, the GoFundMe website.
Thank you so much for looking.
Here is the short description I added to the FB group:
So, here's the short story. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in June of this year. She has a deductible of $1,000 to start off. She will be getting at least one mastectomy, and she is very upset about it. Her insurance may not cover any reconstructive surgery if she opts to do so. I want to be able to help her out with as much as possible. My first goal will be to help her cover her deductible of $1,000, and if possible, for the reconstructive surgery. I will try to get the amount of the reconstructive surgery as soon as possible, but it will be hard to bring up the question without giving too much away. Thank you so much for being a part of the group, even if it is just for well wishes. Once everything is said and done, I will show my mom all of the wonderful things my friends and friends of friends have done for her and my family. You guys rock.
