I live with my father. He is retired military and just diagnosed with cancer. I was in the hospital a few months ago and diagnosed with a litany of problems (chronic pain) and in addition i am my dads only transportation to his Dr appts, so a steady job isn’t an option for me right now. I’m doing gig work like DoorDash and Uber to pay bills etc. Generally we are fine and in good standing, we’ve certainly never asked for help before, but our hot water heater burst last night and sent water flooding into our home. Even after turning the valve off into the water heater, it still poured out so we had to turn the main water off. We can turn it on to use the bathroom or do cleaning/cooking but we can’t leave it on long or the area will flood again. It will take us weeks or a month or more to get the money needed to have someone replace the water heater. We’ve been quoted $900-1000 for replacement but I think we can buy a used water heater for $100 or so and get someone local to install it for less than $200. Anything will help, even if it’s ideas or advice. He gets a military retirement check at the end of the month and I am doing my best to work but the stress and exhaustion of this situation is really doing a number on me. Thank you for reading.
