Why do people confuse social democracy and Democratic socialism so much?

I know they sound the same but. They are very different (social democracy argues for regulating capitalism to frick to mitigate its worst effects, democratic socialism argues for the abolition of capitalism and transition to socialism through democratic means, gradual transitions through reformism, and some do advocate Revolution as capitalist democracy is seen as inauthentic, and undemocratic.)
