A Republican running in my district was open to supporting Medicare for All, a public option, and selling across state lines to lower costs. This surprised me.
Currently 2/3rds of all bankruptcies are due to medical bills, assets and property can be seized, and in some states people go to jail for unpaid medical bills.
—————— Update:
I’m surprised at how many conservatives support universal healthcare, Medicare for all, and public options.
Regarding the 2/3rd’s claim. Maybe I should say “contributes to” 2/3rd’s of all bankrupies. The study I’m referring to says:
“Table 1 displays debtors’ responses regarding the (often multiple) contributors to their bankruptcy. The majority (58.5%) “very much” or “somewhat” agreed that medical expenses contributed, and 44.3% cited illness-related work loss; 66.5% cited at least one of these two medical contributors—equivalent to about 530 000 medical bankruptcies annually.” (Medical Bankruptcy: Still Common Despite the Affordable Care Act)
Approximately 40% of men and women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetimes.
stop ordering unneeded tests for people specially when they come to the emergency room multiple times in one week. Stand by your doctor more so they don't feel the need to order unneeded test.
