I've just returned from checking the farms and winter foodstores. I haven't called a meeting yet, I can't bear to tell them the bad news. 75% of our winter supplies are ruined, the remaining 25% isn't going to tide us over for more than a few weeks.
The scouts in the long range observation post have reported that the zombies on the other side of the strait have increased considerably. They've made note that some zombies have been sighted wading into the ocean, I've read about this phenomenon before, and I'm worried that we have swimming zombies on our hands.
A CuC (clean up crew) was assigned to clearing out the HMNZS Rotoiti, there have been zero casualties reported so far, which is a relief. They've been funneling all the zombies off the ship by blasting music from a boat at the stern of the ship. Zombies are so attracted by the music that they run straight off the deck. The CuC had then been able to go in and clear out any stragglers. Initial reports of the ships integrity look good, and we should have news from the helm by tomorrow.
I'm preparing an official statement to put to the community tonight, I don't think they'll take the news very well. I think evacuation plans will be put into action in the coming days...
