Post Body

If you haven't noticed, over the last few weeks/months we've been rolling out some changes here.

  • Automoderator has been buffed up and we're experimenting with new rules to try and catch some of the more mundane/annoying things that tend to occur. Hopefully there aren't too many missteps along the way (luckily one of the changes I made I caught the error right after saving as it would have removed everything...)
  • In that vein, we're using the automod to post a quick summary of our rules on every new post. Hopefully this helps with people understanding them.
  • We're also tweaking our rules, more on clarifications and rewording. Over the next few weeks I plan a complete rewrite (as what we have now was cobbled together over time) and be a bit better delimited into rules and "suggestions" for what a good question/top level comment/other comments look like.
  • We've added scheduled posts. Our first went live on Friday and another should come next Wednesday (unless I messed that up again.) These are to give us a chance to form more of a community and get to know each other. Fridays are "free-for-all" where the normal requirements on questions are loosened and we can just chat. Wednesdays are for "What am I..." questions and just general discussion of ideologies/political thought.

That's all nice and good, but there are things that we want to the community's input on. Here are a few of the things we're considering.

  • Implementing a tag system, "[Taxes]" for example to try and make searching easier, but also make it easier for our flaired members to find questions that they might be able to better answer
  • Changing submissions to require approval before going out to the general public
  • Changes to our warning/repeat violation system - first warning would just be a message, then progressively longer bans (1 day, 3 day, 1 month, etc)

And finally, if you have any thoughts on changes or suggestions, please post them below.

Edit: Oh, and as always, if you want to volunteer some CSS skills, please contact the mods...
