What do you think will be the future of the Republican Party?
Post Body

Given the discord we have seen in the Republican Party in the last few years, what are your thoughts on where it is going? There seem to be a couple factions: the far right-wing extremists and Tea Party activists, some solid right conservative party members, and some more reasonable center-right moderates. There also seem to be some parts of the Republican Party willing to accept some social issues like marriage equality. Do you think the party will be able to unify itself to some degree, or do you think the party will eventually split? Do you think there is some room for a third party (re: Libertarians) to move in and occupy some of the middle ground (yes on marriage equality, no on tax increases)?

Note: This is not a loaded question. I have my thoughts, which I will share later, but I am curious about what other /Ask_Politics redditors think of that party's future, positive or negative.
