What are the craziest/most memorable things you've seen happen in a deposition? I want to hear some war stories. I'll start.
- Witness pulled out a gun during deposition to threaten a fly buzzing about the room.
- Mother casually testified that she didn't care that her son was dead, but she thought my client should have had insurance to compensate her upon her son's death.
- Witness (a raging alcoholic) insisting he could testify when he could barely stand.
- Witness (a teenager) admits to cutting herself in response to finding out they would be testifying in deposition.
- 6'8", 300 lb. police officer bursts into tears during deposition for no apparent reason.
- Right before lunch, a witness testified about walking through building that had suffered a sewer backup. "It was like walking through chili."
- Child witness (10 years old) sent me a letter telling me that opposing counsel was rehearsing child's upcoming deposition testimony and threatening her if she didn't "stick to the story."
Anybody have stories they'd like to share?
