I've been puzzling over where to post this, so I guess I'll try here first. I'm a 56 year old woman in the USA. I have what started out as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, that started in infancy or toddlerhood. In elementary school in the 1960's even the medical community had no idea what I had because they thought back then that arthritis was an "old person's disease". So in addition to a prescription for extremely high doses of aspirin, they told my parents that I was to do no running or jumping. And I'm convinced that (in addition to being wrong), it set me up for a lifetime of being mostly sedentary and chubby at best, obese at worst.
My arthritis is technically in remission, meaning that I don't have specific joint flareups (unless I abuse something like weight lifting carelessly), however I do have overall skeletal pain on a daily basis. Good days and bad days. Over my life I've had periods of higher activity, like when I was in high school I rode my bicycle everywhere and was somewhat fit. But for the most part I can't stand exercise, it never feels good and often it actually hurts. You can't imagine what a disincentive pain is! Or maybe you can.
Now that I'm working from home due to the pandemic, I'm unhealthily sedentary. The good news is that at this point in my life I have a good idea of what exercise I like and hate. The bad news is that because of my condition, even stuff I like eventually becomes a dislike due to pain. Working out with other people to help keep me motivated is tricky because when I need to change things up, they don't or vica versa. So I think I need to design a custom exercise plan for myself that cycles through activities with a way to keep myself motivated.
Does anybody know of any tools that help you design something like that? Ideally, I need something that's a bit "gamified" to help with motivation.
