Abnormal Pap Smear over age 50, anyone have an experience to share?
Post Body

I signed up for a research study earlier this year and was paid $25 to get a pap smear done. (I was only four years overdue btw). The research study was to test a new machine for diagnosing abnormal paps.

Anyway since I was called back for a followup I was paid $75 to get a colposcopy done.

The doctor said right now it's just "wait and see" and I have a follow up scheduled for Nov - six months after my first visit to him. I recently started a new job so I don't have insurance to see a doctor until Oct when my 90 days of employment hits.

Anyway I am a little nervous about the fact that I had an abnormal pap and can't help thinking something like cancer is festering and growing while I wait on the follow up visit.

I'm 53 yrs old btw and breast cancer runs in my family although currently no issues with that at least that I'm aware of.
