I'm wondering if maybe I'm just weird, but I really don't like phone calls. I'm talking to someone on Hinge - we've been texting for a couple of days- and he asked if I wanted to meet up this Thursday or do a phone call. I said that I was busy this Thursday, but I could meet him any other day. He responded that we could "maybe do something on Saturday," and then said he might need to "save funds" because he is helping someone move to Ohio next week?? I asked if he wanted to meet up for coffee on Saturday, and told him I prefer in person meetings for the first meet.
Anyway, all that aside, a lot of the men I have dated have been really eager about doing phone calls. Usually it is after we have met in person. The thing is, that I really hate talking on the phone. I'm old, too. I'm not one of these Gen Z kids who never learned how to use a phone as a phone. I'm 42. When I was 14, my best girlfriend and I were on the phone constantly, but the thought of having my first "date" with someone as a phone call makes my social anxiety go through the roof. Just me? What's the norm?
