Watched The Man From Earth last night with my girlfriend. Spoiler: the protagonist is 14,000 years old. Not supernatural, not cursed, just perfect regeneration and never ages past his “current“ age of about 35.
Even with the cycle of love and loss that comes with it, what an amazing life that would be to have, I thought. I asked my girlfriend and she immediately and vehemently exclaimed “hell no“ We discussed it for a bit and she believes there is something about being a woman that lends to her no and something about being a man that lends to my saying yes. And it’s that Difference that I am curious about.
hard pass. I didn't even consider my own gender in the equation. You'd get bored with humanity... you'd be alone too. everyone you've ever met, loved, or liked will die. and you'll keep living. and eventually humans will evolve and you won't look/be like them.
there's a doctor who episode where the last "human" is actually just a flap of skin. and she yells, "moisturize me! moisturize me!" I think about that a lot when doing my skincare. anyway.
nahh. i don't think it's even a gender thing. but it just sounds awful.
