How do you know you actually like someone and it isnt the random spikes of hormones making you feel crazy?

Sometimes I feel like im so infatuated I know its definitely hormones or something going on. Sometimes i feel so deeply and then other times I feel like I don’t care that much.

I can tell when I spend 1 on 1 time with them.. I actually get to know them. Versus, for example, a co-worker I crush on from afar but only see in limited settings. that way you can actually evaluate them on their strengths and weaknesses. befriend them, etc.
this isn't a foolproof plan though, everyone is different.
