It seems like every single day in here, I see one post about a injury to a cat that could have easily have been prevented if the cat was kept indoors like it should be. In my local sub, I see at least 1 lost cat post every single day, some of those cats never make it home. I'm so tired of seeing it and feeling heartbroken for these animals, cats destroy wildlife just by being outside, some bird populations have been decimated due to irresponsible cat owners. An average outdoor cat's lifespan is 6 years according to the ASPCA, much less than a indoor cat. I am aware that strays exist, but by no means do we as people need to further contribute to the declining biodiversity that we are messing with in the 1st place when we can easily prevent it. Like what legit excuse does anyone have to have a outdoor cat? Pest problem? Hire an exterminator. Cat goes to the bathroom outside the litterbox? See a vet. Cat is bored inside? Play with it and provide it stimulation. Literally no excuse, and it disappoints me to see vets of all people just brush this aside like it's no big deal and never mention it to the OPs who post about injured outdoor cats.
