My dog was in heat on August 19th of this year until around September 4th. Around that time I booked an appointment for her to be spayed, making the appointment for today, October 24th. My dog is 1.5 years old and her heat usually lasts 3 weeks. I wanted to be sure she was through with her heat before taking her for the procedure.

Now the front desk calls me to let me know she is fine but when I pick her up I should bring additional funds as she as found to be in heat.

How long does heat last? Months? Why would it be so long? Can she be in heat without showing any signs of it? She's been out of her diaper since the 4th of September! Is there something abnormal I should be aware of?
