Dog has an injured eye, do I need to be using Tramadol for the pain?
Post Body

Species: Dog

Age: 1 and a half years old

Sex/Neuter status: Female/Yes

Breed:Pitbull mix

Body weight: 147lbs

History: Small sticking on right ear about a week ago

Clinical signs: She has a swollen left eye due to a scuffle with another dog yesterday.

Duration: A little over 24 hours.

Your general location: Colorado.

About a week ago my dog was prescribed 50mg Tramadol tablets because of the stitching she received on her right ear. Yesterday, she was scratched above the left eye which caused some swelling. I was given some ointment which seems to be doing its job. However, I can tell she's in pain when I try to wipe away the goopy substance coming from her eye. Would there be any issue with administering my dog one of these Tramadol tablets so she isn't in too much pain? I'm not really sure how strong these painkillers are and I don't want her completely comatose because of a small injury.
