Gum around the inside of my dogs top molars is black. The front of the molars is brown. Is this a cause for concern?

Hi AskVet,

I noticed that on the roof of my dogs mouth the immediate area surrounding her large upper molars is very dark. This is on both sides of her mouth. On the outside of the same teeth I see some brown spots in the middle of the tooth. This is only on the top. Is there something wrong with my dogs tooth? I have a vet appointment scheduled but I hope to have more information by the time i go.

Here are a pictures of the outside browness - http://imgur.com/zaVxEYz

I wasn't able to get a picture of the dark area on the inside.

Any information would be greatly appreciated! I want to ensure my best friend is healthy and pain free.
