Anesthesia for Felines

Where I was living before, South Florida, the most common anesthetic used for felines was Dexmedatomidine. I remember that the use of Telazol in that area was considered to be highly unusual. Now I'm living in the mid-west, where Telazol and Propofol are used frequently, and Dex shied away from.
I'm looking to get my cat neutered, and am curious about the merits of using any particular anesthetic...
